Something's Not Right

Gas Fireplace Repair in Frederick, MD

Won't light, won't stay lit, soot on the glass, a smell you don't trust: our licensed gas-fitters find the problem and fix it, usually in one visit.

Sound Familiar?

The Calls We Get Every Week

If your fireplace is doing any of these, it's telling you something. We speak the language.

It Clicks but Won't Light

The igniter sparks, the gas hesitates, nothing catches. Or it catches on the fourth try. Classic ignition-system wear.

The Pilot Won't Stay Lit

You relight it, it dies again by morning. Usually a thermocouple or thermopile at the end of its life, and the part's on the truck.

Soot on the Glass

Black haze or buildup means the flame is burning dirty. It's fixable, and it's worth fixing before it stains the logs and liner.

A Smell You Don't Trust

Dust burn-off in October is normal for an hour. Anything sharper, or any gas odor, is a leave-the-house-and-call-from-outside situation. Then we repair the cause.

The Remote Stopped Listening

Receivers, wall switches, and remotes fail more often than fireplaces do. Bring us the symptoms and we'll sort the electronics from the appliance.

It Shuts Off Mid-Burn

A fire that quits after 20 minutes is usually overheating protection or a sensor doing its job. The fix is finding out why it's triggering.

The House Call

What a Repair Visit Looks Like

Your technician arrives in the window the office confirmed, puts booties on at the door, and lays a drop cloth before a single tool comes out. Then the fireplace comes apart the way the manufacturer intended: glass off, burner inspected, ignition tested, gas pressure checked.

Because you told us the symptoms when you booked (and ideally sent a photo), the likely parts are already on the truck. Igniters, thermopiles, pilot assemblies, remote receivers: the common failures don't wait for a second appointment.

Before we button it up, you'll see what failed and why, in plain English. No mystery invoices, no jargon without a translation.

“The technician arrived within the estimated time, and put on booties to cover his shoes upon entry. He was professional and personable. Then, after a brief discussion of what was happening with the fireplace he proceeded to meticulously inspected my gas fireplace, found and explained the issue, and fixed it because he already had the part he needed in the truck!”

Repair Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my gas fireplace light?
The usual suspects, in order: dead batteries in the remote or receiver, a pilot that's gone out, a worn thermopile or thermocouple that can't hold the valve open, or a failing igniter. Some are a two-minute fix, some need a part. Either way, a technician can usually tell within the first few minutes of the visit.
My pilot light keeps going out. Is that dangerous?
It's usually a safety system doing its job: a weak thermocouple or a drafting problem tells the gas valve to shut things down. The fireplace is failing safe, but it still needs attention, because the same aging parts that drop the pilot will eventually keep it from lighting at all.
What if I smell gas?
Leave the house first. Don't flip switches or light anything on the way out. Then call your gas or propane supplier's emergency line, or 911, from outside. Once the utility says the home is safe, we can repair whatever caused it — but the emergency call always comes before the service call.
How much does gas fireplace repair cost?
We quote after we've seen the fireplace — every unit and failure is different, and guessing sight-unseen wouldn't be honest. Add a photo to your booking request and you'll get a straight answer once we've laid eyes on it, before any work starts.
